Jon Rocheleau was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts but grew up in a small town on the coast of Maine.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston in 1992. He then embarked on a lengthy engineering career in which he worked with small and large commercial, industrial and institutional clients.
In 2013, Jon started on the path to fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming a lawyer. While continuing to work in the engineering field, he attended the University of Calgary where he received his Juris Doctor in 2017. He articled at the Department of Justice and Public Safety, Newfoundland and Labrador, Civil Division where he gained valuable experience in administrative law, contracts, child protection, criminal law, and civil litigation. Jon has been admitted to the bar in Alberta and in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Jon has found that the skills and experience he developed as an engineer have transferred to his career in law. Jon has an affinity for contracts and construction law. His experience as an engineer and project manager working for a large design/build firm has given him insight into all types of contract disputes and especially construction disputes.
More importantly, in his engineering practice, Jon took pride in building strong relationships with clients. Whether that client operated a small convenience store or a large manufacturing enterprise, he felt that each client deserved the same level of attention, technical skill, and respect. That same philosophy applies to Jon’s legal clients. Each client deserves the same concern, dedication, and respect regardless of their means or the legal issues they are facing.
Jon’s solicitor’s practice includes residential and commercial real estate transactions, leases, corporate and commercial, wills, estate planning, and estate administration. His litigation practice includes residential and commercial tenancies, construction claims, breach of contract, employment, administrative law, and estate litigation.
Jon has been a little league coach, has volunteered for Amica Helping Hands, a senior’s charity, has served as an advisor to the City of Belfast, Maine in delivering weatherization services to low-income residents, and has served as an advisor on the Building Code Technical Advisory Committee for the State of Maine.
When not working, he enjoys kayaking on Alberta’s many rivers, hiking, snowshoeing and sailing when he gets the chance.
